How do I enter Cute Pet?
Entry is easy. Go to the home page www.cutepet.co.za and enter some basic details about your Cute Pet. Upload a photo. You will then be entered into the following months competition. Then watch your emails and mobile phone. We will keep in touch.
Is there a charge to enter the competition?
Entry into the Competition is free, bar any costs charged by your mobile network service provider in enabling the entering or voting, but which charge is not levied nor collected by the Promoter.
Voting in a Competition attracts a Premium rated charge from, and to the benefit of, the Promoter. Voting can be done by either sending a single SMS at a Premium rate of R2 (two Rand) or using a bundle package of 25 votes at a Premium rate of R30 (thirty Rand) per bundle.
There are no limits on the number of votes cast by a single voter.
What is the value of the monthly prizes?
The total value of the monthly prizes is R10,000. Imagine the dog or cat food you can buy with that! Perhaps a little something to spoil the owner too?
1st place: R5,000
2nd place: R3,000
3rd place: R2,000
Prizes are awarded via an Innervation Rewards card which can be used at over 28 retail stores like Woolworths, Game, Mr. Price, Jet, CNA to name a few.
I have entered my pet but can’t find their picture on the website?
If you have just entered, your entry is currently being screened, and will only be approved and uploaded for next month’s competition if you have provided us with a valid email address and mobile number (No landline numbers). If you suspect that you’ve an error, please feel free to contact us at [email protected] to rectify the error.
Until then, keep checking the status of your pet’s entry and start getting your team ready for the voting mayhem. We will inform you closer to the end of the month and the beginning of the next competition with how it all works.
In which month is my pet participating?
This competition is held monthly. You will participate in the month following the month of your entry.
How do I vote?
Voting is by SMS only. There are two options when voting but remember each vote must appear as follows:
PET UNIQUE NUMBER (as is appears on the website) an example would be PET 1234. Please ensure you put a space between PET and the unique number!
Text PET 1234 to 41868 = 1 vote (R2 applies)
Text PET 1234 to 42130 = 25 votes (R30 applies)
Please ensure you vote as indicated above. Free and bundled SMS packages can not be used. Errors will be billed.
Please ensure you vote in the correct format.
Common problems include not putting a space between PET and the unique number;
including 2 spaces between keyword PET and the unique number; including a space first then the keyword PET and then the unique number;
using the pet’s name (Bella 1234) and including a message (PET 1234 Bella is going to win for sure!!)
Can I vote for my own pet?
Yes, of course you can. You can vote as many times as you wish.
The more you spread the message via friends, family and work colleagues the more votes you should receive so don’t forget to ask for votes via email and social media etc.
I am receiving an ‘Oops entrant is not recognised’ SMS reply after voting
If you have received an SMS response message from us with the following message ‘ Oops, We didn’t recognise the entrant you are voting for or you are voting incorrectly. Please refer to cutepet.co.za. Errors will be billed.’ then you are voting in the incorrect format.
For 1 vote, you need to type the keyword PET followed by a space and then the unique voting ID number and send message to 41868. (example: PET 1234)
For 25 votes, you need to type the keyword PET followed by a space and then the unique voting ID number and send message to 42130. (example: PET 1234)
Some common problems that result in error messages include:
Including a space first then keyword PET (sometimes this happens when you copy and paste);
Including a double space between PET and the unique voting ID;
Not including a space between PET and the unique voting ID number (example PET1234)
It’s not obvious when viewing your mobile phone screen that you have included spaces inadvertently so please try start a whole new SMS message making sure you don’t include spaces where there shouldn’t be spaces.
Please note that WE DO COUNT all votes cast in the incorrect format, however these won’t be reflected on the Cute Vote-O-Meter.
I am a Cell C subscriber, can I vote via SMS?
From 1 August 2018 Cell C subscribers won’t be able to vote via SMS for any Cutify administered competitions namely: Cute Baby SA, Cute Kid SA, Cute Pet SA, Cute Couple SA and Super Cute SA.
You can however vote via SnapScan if you download the app and register with SnapScan. This remains the most cost effective way to vote.
It is strongly advised that should you canvas votes from friends, family and the general public that you convey that Cell C Subscribers can not vote via SMS.
From 1 August 2018 Cell C no longer supports the use of Premium Rated SMS services from our platform and you will not be able to vote via SMS in our competitions.
What does this mean? There are two short-codes used to vote via SMS in our competitions; 41868 (R2.00 charge) and 42130 (R30.00 charge) which are managed by our short-code provider. When you send a message to either 41868 or 42130 your mobile network provider charges you for the message/s and then delivers confirmation to our short-code provider. Our short-code provider then sends you a “thank-you” SMS message confirming receipt of your message.
From 1 August Cell C should no longer deliver your message to our short-code provider and all messages to 41868 or 42130 should fail and you should not be charged. If a Cell C Subscriber does vote and have been charged, kindly contact Cell C directly to seek a refund immediately. We suggest keeping proof of any messages you may have been charged for. Cutify Media & Marketing will not reimburse any costs to Cell C subscribers.
Cutify Media and Marketing have no access to any mobile network infrastructure, including billing. Any and all queries with regards to billing should be redirected to your mobile network providers’ customer services team.
We do realize that this may disappoint some of our entrants but unfortunately there is little we can do if a minor South African network chooses not to support the technology used globally. We are committed to run our competitions fairly and are working on some exciting changes to our voting format and urge you to check our websites in the coming months.
Can I change my pet’s photo during the course of the competition?
We wish you took some time when you entered to get the perfect photo of your pet but if you genuinely got a horrible photo that would embarrass your doggy or kitty then please email us at [email protected]
Can I enter my pet more than once during the competition to increase it’s chances of winning.
No. You only need to enter once. Our system will detect and delete any duplicate entries before the competition begins.
Tip: The only way to increase your chances of winning is to have more votes, so we advise that you focus all your voting campaigns into one entry than to divide your attention and votes over 2 or more entries.
How do I see the number of votes my pet has received?
We have done it! We have always wanted contestants to be able to view the amount of votes received and now you can.
Apart from the Cute Vote-O-Meter which is visible to everyone you can view the total number of votes currently received (there is a 12 hour delay). All you need to do is to register a few basic details making sure you use the same email address that you used to enter the competition. We will then send an activation link. Once you click on the link you will be able to login and view current total votes. This is updated hourly.

How does the Cute Vote-O-Meter work?
Each month we set the criteria for the Cute Vote-O-Meter™. Each level of the Cute Vote-O-Meter™ is shaded-in based on the amount of votes obtained for that level.
For example; you may only need a vote to make it to the first level, 10 votes to reach the second level, 50 votes to reach the third level and so on (as an example). Do not expect to see a change in your meter each time you vote.
As you progress the harder it becomes to reach the next level.
The Cute Vote-O-Meter™ is updated each hour based on server connectivity. From time to time, due to system maintenance and upgrading, you may not be able to view your Cute Vote-O-Meter™.
We provide opportunities, after the first elimination round, to increase your vote count. The secret is to stay in the game as long as possible to take advantage of these opportunities.
Having all 10 blocks of the Cute Vote-O-Meter™ completely colored in does not mean you are a winner or even in the TOP 10, it just means that you are performing well.
Please Note; the Cute Vote-O-Meter™ is not the deciding factor when selecting the TOP 10 winners. The TOP 10 are based on the most amount of votes received for the entire month. We double check the amount of votes each participant has received and then we triple check these results again manually.
I can’t see the Cute Vote-O-Meter™
If you can’t see the Cute Vote-O-Meter™ on your pet’s unique url then we have had to disable it temporarily.
From time to time due to system maintenance and other things outside our control the ‘feed’ between our SMS short code provider and our website gets broken and we are unable to provide access to the Cute Vote-O-Meter™.
Not been able to view the Cute Vote-O-Meter™ in no way affects the vote count as all votes cast are kept securely by our SMS short code provider.
Rest assured we are working around the clock with our IT guys to get the Cute Vote-O-Meter™ up and running as soon as possible.
How do the eliminations work?
There are 2 eliminations rounds held in the month. These are held weekly and the 1st one is usually held during the 2nd week of the competition.
Voting criteria is set for each elimination round, for example, in the first elimination round we may eliminate pets who have less than 1 vote. And as the competition progresses the elimination criteria gets stronger and much more competitive.
Entrants are notified via email and SMS if their child has made the elimination round or not. This is usually done by 5pm on the day of the elimination.
My pet made it through to the next round of the competition, now what?
You can continue to vote for your pet so that he/she makes it through subsequent elimination rounds or you can stop voting. The choice is yours. Votes are not put back to zero.
My pet didn’t make it through to the next round, now what?
Firstly, it’s important to remember that it’s not winning that matters, it’s the taking part.
Your pet’s picture will be deleted from our website, usually within 24 hours after an elimination round.

Can I enter the competition again?
Yes, you can! However your pet will be entered into the following month and his/her votes from the previous month will not be carried over.
Please note as per our terms & conditions no person or persons at the same residential address may win more than one prize valued at R1,000 or more via any of our Competitions in any 6 month period.
NB! Please note that you will be provided with a new unique code for voting.
Why don’t you use a panel of judges to judge the cutest pet?
Cute Pet runs a monthly interactive competition not a subjective one. A panel of judges would be subjective in deciding who the monthly winner should be. We want our monthly competition to be fun, interactive and entertaining.
When do you announce the monthly winners?
Each month the TOP 10 winners of the competition are announced on the 5th of the following month. e.g. If you took part in the June competition the winners of that competition would be announced on the 5th of July.
NB! The TOP 10 will be announced on the next working day if the 5th falls on a Saturday/ Sunday/Public Holiday.
Is Cute Pet a scam?
Cute Pet is NOT a scam. But of course we would say that.
While Cute Pet was set up in mid 2016 we have been around for over a year with similar competition website – Cute Baby and Cute Kid. Please feel free to check these sites out and their respective Facebook pages.
Entry is FREE and you don’t have to vote for your pet if you don’t want to. We respect that and won’t pressure you to vote.
We adhere to a Code of Conduct as set out by South Africa’s Wireless Application Services Providers’ Association (WASPA). We would be in the dog house if we didn’t play by the rules.
There is no-way to rig the competition and if we find anyone taking part is doing so in an unlawful way we will nullify their entry and ban them from the competition.
While we don’t make voting information public, it can be requested for in private, we believe in being open, honest and transparent.
Your policy on abuse and inappropriate comments?
From time to time, we do get abuse either via SMS, Facebook and Email. We don’t tolerate abuse, racist and hateful comments of any kind. We will take steps to ban and remove you from our social media channels.
Why don’t you use a Facebook voting system?
Sorry Mark Zuckerberg your website is less than perfect.
The use of Facebook to cast votes is open to abuse and there is limited access to manage these votes fairly. It’s common practice in these circumstances for people to open ‘dummy’ accounts and votes can be bought. Facebook is only used as a communication tool for current and future participants.
What’s the maximum number of pets I can enter in on entry?
You may enter up to 4 fur-babies as one entry.
I can’t upload a photo of my pet!
If you are experiencing difficulties uploading a photo of your pet please make sure of the following:
- The photo is not larger than 2MB.
- The photo is in either JPG, GIF or PNG format.
- You have sufficient data or airtime.
If you are still having problems then please try from a desktop computer.
I’ve won a prize, when will I receive it?
If you’ve won a prize we will notify you via phone and/or email. Prizes are dispatched 5-10 working days after you’ve been notified. If you have won an on-line voucher or eGift, please be sure to check your spam folder. Please contact [email protected] if you’ve not received your prize within this time frame.
Can I vote more than once with the same number?
Yes, you can! It’s the pet with the most SMS votes who wins.
I’ve sent loads of text messages but I’m not getting any replies!
We know that this must be incredibly frustrating! Firstly, make sure that you’re texting correctly.
Enter the unique ID as stated on the website, make sure you leave a space between PET and the unique ID (i.e. PET 1234)
Make sure you use the correct key-word (i.e. PET). Don’t add any extra characters or message (i.e. PET 1234 Bella he’s the winner by far;-)
If you’ve done all of the above, keep in mind that it can take up to 30 minutes to receive a reply SMS from us and this depends on how busy your network provider. However if you feel this is not the case then please email us at [email protected] and we’ll look into the matter.
Please provide as much detail as you possibly can if you email us: Unique ID, cellular number in question, cellular network provider and/or a screenshot of your message will help greatly.
Some network providers (i.e. Cell-C) may not support the short-code being used, in which case your text message and any messages from us may not reach you. This fault lies with the network provider and not Cute Pet.
Can my friends and family vote from overseas?
Unfortunately not. Voting must be via SMS from a mobile phone connected to one of the South African networks.
But why not ask them to share your unique link on their social media pages?
How to nominate a charity?
As part of giving back, every month Cute Pet donates a portion of the competition profits to a needy animal charity.
To nominate a charity for Cute Pet to donate to, please email us the name, region and contact details of that charity to [email protected].
NB! Charities must be registered as NGOs in order to qualify for the donation. Preference is given to those with a website.
What are your hours of operation?
Our website and Facebook page are accessible 24 hours a day however we work normal business hours which are 9:00 – 16:00 Monday to Friday. We aim to respond to all communication within 24 hours.
