Our contribution to charity

Cute Pet gives a donation to a deserving animal charity every month. The donation is paid over to the charity 60 days after the close of the competition. To nominate a charity please contact us.

July 2018

Ark is South Africa’s fastest growing non-profit animal shelter. They have a no suffer policy for animals in their care.  Based in Fourways, JHB, they specialise in the rehabilitation and re-homing of puppies, pregnant mom’s and small breed dogs from all types of backgrounds. They take in puppies from all over Gauteng and they home puppies country wide. Ark homed 100 dogs in their first 100 days – a first in welfare!

June 2018

Oudtshoorn Dogs in Need is a registered NPO who believe in action first; getting the yard dog healthy (thereby reducing the need for the never-ending demand for puppies), educating the owners and monitoring the re-introduction. They take in every single rescue animal and their mantra is; rescue, medicate, educate and re-home. They run a “no-kill” rescue shelter in the Western Cape and rely heavily on the generosity of the community that stretches from Knysna to Mossel Bay.

May 2018

Woodrock Animal Rescue in Gauteng provide assistance to unfortunate, homeless, abused, neglected, stray, injured, ill, geriatric and unwanted animals that would otherwise have miserable lives and premature deaths.
The rescue centre provides food, necessary medical care such as inoculations, vaccinations, sterilisations etc. and preventative medicine including deworming, flea and tick dips etc.

April 2018

Phoenix Animal Care & Treatment was established in 2012 as a non profit organisation dedicated to providing care and medical treatment for animals in the Phoenix, KwaZulu-Natal area.

Phoenix is a poverty stricken area with many owners who either cannot afford to or are not concerned with sterilizing their animals. As a result, there is a considerable breeding problem in this area which leads to unwanted litters destined for homeless lives under unfathomable conditions.

Fallen Angels

Fallen Angels Pet Rescue is a registered NPO focusing on the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of domestic animals.Any animal that is forgotten, abandoned (abused), lost, lonely, emaciated and neglected (FALLEN) is considered to be a Fallen Angel & therefore part of the focus area of this organisation.

The Animal Welfare Society Port Elizabeth is an open shelter and the only animal shelter in Port Elizabeth which offers a safe place for all kinds of unwanted, lost or abandoned animals.

The Animal Welfare Society accept all animals brought to them, and also run a 24-hour service to deal with the many cases of cruelty and neglect which are reported.

Kitty & Puppy Haven

Kitty and Puppy Haven is a pro-life sanctuary started in 2000 with the sole purpose of rescuing neglected, abused and abandoned animals.

Most of their cases originate from veterinary practices, low income areas, other welfare organizations (that work in the townships and squatter-camps) or from emergency rescues.

While animal rescue and rehabilitation is a priority, educating people on correct animal care is critical. Click here to find out more about their good work.

Santa Claus 4 Paws

Santa Cause for Paws is a registered NPC that collects gifts for shelter animals. They also assist organisations that do outreach work in townships, feral feeders and fosters.

They are a group of volunteers, all with full time jobs that run Santa Cause for Paws in their spare time after hours.

Husky Rescue KZN

Husky Rescue KZN rescues stray and unwanted huskies as far as our capacity and financial resources allows us to. We treat, sterilize, microchip, rehabilitate and foster these huskies until we can find appropriate homes for them.

Given their unique nature and needs, our adoption process is very strict. We take care of an average of 50 huskies at any given time.

Most of our dogs are with us for several months before we find them a good home. Click here to find out more about their good work.

Tears Animal Rescue

TEARS Animal Rescue (The Emma Animal Rescue Society) is one of the country’s leading organisations; its mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home domestic animals, as well as provide veterinary services to local communities.

Located in the False Bay area of the southern Cape Peninsula, TEARS typically serve the communities of Ocean View, Masiphumelele and Red Hill, Mountain View and Capricorn in the Western Cape.

Four Paws is a registered NPO established in July 2006 in Diepsloot. Four Paws helps out with dipping, de-worming, sterilisation campaigns, vaccinations, veterinary treatment and education about proper pet care.

Drakenstein Animal Rescue

Drakenstein Animal Rescue’s main objective is to rescue and support animals in distress by involving different role players in the community and through a network of foster homes rehabilitate animals with the intention of re-homing at a suitable permanent home.

Help the Port Elizabeth Animal Anti Cruelty League replace a much needed field van.

The Animal Anti-Cruelty League Port Elizabeth deal with all abuse, neglect and cruelty cases, education needs, rescue work and re-homing. Their outreach into these areas is extensive and they rely entirely on their transport vans, which are equipped as mobile clinics.

Puppy SOS

We are Puppy SOS based in Kwa Zulu Natal. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome abused, unwanted and homeless dogs in the KZN area.
All of our pups & dogs are in various foster homes in the Durban & Ballito area.

We are always looking for temporary foster homes to care for our pups whilst they wait for a new home.Due to the areas that are pups come from, most are sick and often need treatment and special diets.

African Tails

African Tails was set up in December 2006. This charity operates on the dusty streets of Du Noon and Joe Slovo townships in Cape Town, where African Tails strives to curb the over-population and suffering of abused and neglected township dogs.

African Tails has sterilised in excess of 8,200 animals and receive calls for help on a daily basis from pet owners in townships, to assist when animals have been injured or are sick.  The charity is also involved  on educating the urban public about sterilization. Mdzananda_animal_clinic_logoMdzananda Animal Clinic was founded in 1996 in response to the need to provide veterinary care to a fast growing community that had no access to help for their animals. Today the clinic serves up to 1,000 animals per month through consultations, surgery, hospitalization, x-rays and mobile clinics for sick and injured animals, primarily dogs and cats.

It all started with a community hero who wanted to help his neighbours pets. Wollies Animal ProjectWollies Animal Project focuses on sterilization and re-homing. Their motto has always been to educate and help prevent unwanted litters. In doing so they are saving thousands of lives’ and helping to prevent neglect, abuse and abandonment of animals.

Dogtown SADogtown SA are a team of qualified animal behaviorists and trainers, dedicated to helping misunderstood dogs, become the dogs we all know they can be.

Wetnose Animal Rescue CentreWetnose Animal Rescue Centre is a registered “right to life” organisation that is involved in the rehabilitation of abandoned , neglected and abused animals. Wet Nose Animal Rescue Centre was opened in April 1999 because of the belief that all animals deserve a second chance in life and that healthy animals should not be killed just because they are unwanted.

The Underdog projectThe Underdog Project is an Animal Assisted Therapy Non-Profit Organization based in Cape Town, South Africa.

In our 2nd competition Cute Pet is giving away a percentage of voting revenue to the SAMREC – SA Marine Rehabilitation & Education Centre.

Samrec SAMREC’s mission is to rescue tired, dehydrated and injured marine birdlife that become stranded on our shores. It is estimated that in the last 50 years, the African penguin population has declined by 91%, leaving an estimated total population of 45 000 individuals. Researchers have predicted that this species will be extinct in the wild by 2025, making our work incredibly important.
